How to Setup Dedicated Server with cPanel and WHMCS

Before installing cPanel on your server, make sure that the application is indeed compatible. Linux OS is recommended because cPanel is not available for Windows.

We are assuming you have already purchased cPanel & WHMCS subscription. If not done yet, we recommend that you do so before consulting this guide.

  - Login to WHM (WebHost Manager) using your login id and password and navigate to Development. Under the Development button click Manage API Tokens.
  - Now click Generate Token.
  - Enter token name of your choice.
  - Assign your token all the necessary permissions. You can allow and disallow permissions by checking the box next to the tab that says permissions.
  - Click on Save. The next screen will display you the API token. Make a note of this. We will need this later.
  - After you have copied the token, click Yes, I have saved my token.

Step 2 - Adding the server to WHMCS
Now we are ready to add the server to WHMCS.

  - Login to your WHMSC admin.
  - Now click Configuration > System Settings > Servers. People running WHMCS 7.10 and earlier can do so through Setup > Products/Services > Servers.
  - Click Add New Server
  - Now fill in the following information next to their corresponding fields-
      1.) Server name
      2.) Server IP address and hostname
      3.) Server's nameserver information
      4.) The type of server (whether it is cPanel or Plesk. In this case it is cPanel)
      5.) Your WHM username
      6.) The API token that you have copied from the above step
      7.) Your WHM details (username)
      8.) The API token that we told you to note down somewhere.
  - Click Test Connection to ensure the WHMCS that you just setup is able to communicate. A pop up should now display Successful! If you don't see a success message, check whether you have entered correct details.

The Server interface will now appear with the newly-added server in its list.
