How to Remove a Page in Word?

1. Delete Content on the Page

If a page contains text, images, tables, or other elements, follow these steps to remove it:

  1. Open the Word document and navigate to the page you want to delete.

  2. Click at the beginning of the page and drag down to select all content on that page.

  3. Press Backspace (Windows) or Delete (Mac) to remove the content.

  4. If necessary, press Backspace/Delete again to remove any extra line breaks.

2. Remove a Blank Page in the Middle of a Document

Sometimes, blank pages appear due to extra paragraphs or page breaks. To delete:

  1. Place the cursor at the beginning of the blank page.

  2. Press Backspace (Windows) or Delete (Mac) multiple times until the page disappears.

  3. Alternatively, enable Show/Hide Paragraph Marks (Ctrl + Shift + 8) to identify extra paragraph marks and remove them.

3. Remove a Blank Page at the End of a Document

If an empty page appears at the end due to a non-removable paragraph:

  1. Enable Show/Hide Paragraph Marks (Ctrl + Shift + 8).

  2. Locate the extra paragraph symbols at the end of the document.

  3. Select them and reduce the font size to 1pt (Home > Font Size).

  4. If the page remains, try deleting the paragraph marks.

4. Delete a Page Using Navigation Pane (Windows)

Microsoft Word's Navigation Pane helps locate and delete pages.

  1. Press Ctrl + G to open the Go To feature.

  2. Type \page in the Enter page number box and press Enter.

  3. Click Close and ensure the entire page is selected.

  4. Press Backspace/Delete to remove the page.

5. Delete a Page in Word (Mac)

For Mac users, removing a page follows similar steps:

  1. Use Command + Option + G to open the Go To tab.

  2. Type \page, press Enter, then close the window.

  3. Ensure the page content is selected and press Delete.

6. Remove a Page Break

Page breaks can cause extra pages to appear.

  1. Click Home > Show/Hide Paragraph Marks.

  2. Locate the manual Page Break.

  3. Click before the break and press Delete.

7. Adjust Layout Settings

Incorrect layout settings can create unwanted pages.

  1. Go to Layout > Margins > Custom Margins.

  2. Reduce the bottom margin size if an extra page persists.

  3. Check Section Breaks in Show/Hide Paragraph Marks mode.

Conclusion

Deleting a page in Word can be as simple as selecting content and pressing Backspace/Delete. However, blank pages due to formatting, page breaks, or section breaks require additional steps. Using Show/Hide Paragraph Marks and the Go To feature can make the process easier.
