Data center predictive modeling or DCPM is defined as an ability to forecast the performance of a data center into the future. Be it energy usage, efficiency of the operational unit, performance of the myriad pieces of equipment or even cost, it can be predicted on the basis of ongoing trends of the industry and performance of a data center. The term gained attention since June 2011 and was adopted by Romonet to distinguish DCPM from data center infrastructure management (DCIM) which only see through and records the present performance of the elements related to data center.
