Software as a Service (SaaS) refers to a software distribution model in which the applications are hosted by a service provider and are thus made accessible to clients over a network, usually the Internet.

SaaS, with passing time is gradually becoming a predominant delivery model. It is closely associated with the ASP , known as the application service provider and on demand computing software delivery models.

The term ""software as a service"" (SaaS) is considered to be a part of the terminology related to cloud computing, along with infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS),desktop as a service (DaaS), backend as a service (BaaS), and information technology management as a service (ITMaaS).
