How to Install WordPress on Windows, OS X, or Linux with XAMPP

XAMPP is a powerful and multiplatform Apache, MySQL and PHP stack that's free for use. To install WordPress on Windows, OS X or Linux with XAMPP, you will first have to download and install XAMPP for your OS. Next, download WordPress and extract it into the ht docs folder of the XAMPP install. Then you will have to open phpMyAdmin and click on the Database tab, name the file and click create. You will see a message that announces successful installation. In your browser, open http://localhost/wordpress. You will see a request for information which must be provided accurately. After you have finished, click install and you are done.
