How do I take back-up of IIS 6.0?

Firstly, You have to create an Administrative Backup of the IIS 6.0 Metabase.

NOTE: You should have the administrator's permissions to perform this task. There is no requisite to stop the IIS service for this.

- Click on 'Start'; point the cursor to 'Administrative tools', and then click on the 'Internet Information Services'.
- Click on the right mouse button and name your computer in 'IIS Manager', point the cursor to 'All Tasks', and then click on 'Backup/Restore Configuration'.
- Click on 'Create Backup' visible in the 'Configuration Backup/Restore dialog box', and then type a term to name the backup.

NOTE: If you want to make protected backup, click on the 'Encrypt backup using password' check box shown in the 'Configuration Backup' dialog box, give a password in the Password box, and then write the same password in the Confirm password box given below. The backup name cannot contain any symbols or special characters.

- Click on 'OK' to quickly backup the 'administrative settings' in the metabase.
- Click on the Close option, and then leave IIS Manager.
- To restore the metabase backup you have to right-click on the name of your computer in IIS Manager, point the cursor to 'All Tasks', and then click on 'Backup/Restore Configuration'. Under the 'Previous backups', select the file name which you want, and then click on 'Restore'. If there is any prompt for a password, then type the password that you had set.
