Restoring a backup is possible by using cPanel. This facility is provided to hosting accounts with root access. Therefore dedicated and
VPS accounts can use cPanel for restoring backups.
You can ensure full restoration of backup in WHM if you are having root access. In WHM, go to ‘Restore a Full Backup/ cpmove file’ and enter username for the account to be restored. You will have to select ‘Replace all instances of origin server’s address with new address, including in custom A records (default)’ and then click ‘Restore’.
You have restored the full backups.
You can also ensure partial home directory backup to restore your accounts files or website files to the time when the last
backup was made. The process will safeguard against inadvertent deletion of important emails or removal of some website files.
After you login to cPanel, click ‘backups’ under file selection.
Click ‘choose file’ under ‘Restore a Home Directory Backup’.
Locate your home directory backup file in pop-up and open.
Click ‘Upload’ after confirming the name of your backup.
You can view the upload in progress.
It is always better to keep the backup data in remote location because in case of any unexpected event with site, you can always have your backup at hand.
