What is SSL and how it works?

Secure Sockets layer (SSL) is a standard security protocol that is utilized for establishing a secure connection between server (web server) and client (browser). The technology helps in curbing fraudulent activities and ascertains secure transmission of information such as credit card details; social security numbers (SSNs), and login credentials. To activate an SSL on your website, you are required to install a SSL certificate on your server. It works on cryptographic model that uses two keys to encrypt data: a public key which is known to everyone and a private key which is only shared with the recipient of the message. Server authentication including client side and encrypted communication between servers and clients is managed by a computer networking protocol.
