When you want to migrate an
email server hosting from one email server host to another, you must first make sure that the new host supports the same features IMAP. The server host that you are pulling emails from must also support the features. You will also need the password for the email account you want to migrate to. Other mandatory needs are a local email client that’s IMAP capable. You need not worry on this front as most email clients are known to support IMAP email accounts.
An important point to remember is that you must have the same email account at both locations for the migration to be successful. The same password must be used for the new email address but after the migration is successfully completed, you must ensure that the password is changed.
As there are two servers used for referencing, two email accounts must be created in the email client and they both will use the same address and password. They must also be configured in the same manner using IMAP.
For the older IMAP server, you must use the appropriate IP address for it. For the new server, use the domain name. This is important to avoid confusion.
