In the earlier times, most data centers were run either by the government or by very large companies. That is changing now. Most business organizations, small or mid-sized, prefer to outsource their server needs to data centers to ease operations and enhance efficiency by removing the onerous tasks associated with the management of in-house servers. Data center colocation is a service that’s in high demand and that explains the proliferation of such centers around the globe. There are many features a data center must have to ensure smooth services to their clients. It must be a robustly constructed building since it would house servers, cables, and other equipment associated with power supply. It should have adequate cooling systems in place along with fire detection machines and extinguishers. Most data centers have power supply from a network of utility grids, along with plenty of backup generators so that they can offer uninterrupted power to their clients. Along with these, the centers have multiple layers of security in place, such as biometric access, CCTV cameras, 24/7 manned surveillance, etc. to safeguard the critical data of their clients. Another important feature is taking backups of data and disaster recovery plans in cases of any calamity, whether man made or natural.
