What is Difference Between Colocation Center and Data Center?

Will data center work better for your business or colocation? Knowing the difference between the two can help you make the right choice.
When you choose server colocation hosting, you own the equipment. With a dedicated data center the server equipment has to be hired from the service provider. In the latter case, the responsibility of server maintenance is with the hosting service professionals. Speed is another key distinguishing factor. Dedicated data centers come with a fixed bandwidth. In colocation servers, you can enjoy dazzling speed and thus greater efficiency. The cost of using colocation service or data center depends on the features and services you need for your business.

Colocation and data centers are two broadly distinct terms. Data center is the premises or the infrastructure housing all the components of the server whereas colocation is when an organization deploys its servers on a data center to make available the resources needed to host a website.

I know that data center refers to the infrastructure and colocation to the process of positioning servers but what are the other differences, I mean in terms of service, support.

A data center is maintained by a hosting provider or any other company on its own. There is no such thing as “support” when it comes to data centers. Know that data centers are self-maintained service and hence the enterprises that own the infrastructure is supposed to take care of the service itself. In colocation, on the other hand, the support is provided by the data center provider because that’s where all the colocation servers are located. That, I believe, is the basic difference between data center and colocation as far as support is concerned.

And what is the difference between Cloud web hosting and colocation and colocation and the cloud? I know these three are widely different but even then they are too baffling. Also, help me understand the difference between colocation and managed hosting if you can. Thanks in advance.
