You can edit the MX records of a domain on your dedicated server or VPS server by using Web Host Manager (WHM). You need to follow the following steps:

1. Once you are logged in to your WHM, look for the section named as DNS Functions on the left side. If you select ‘Edit DNS Zone’ you will get a list of domains.

2. Select a domain that needs to be edited and at the bottom of the screen, click on ‘Edit’.

3. Look for the line that has drop down menu with MX as record type

4. Enter the new MX server name, if you have the new email server’s host name, in the text box on extreme right by adding a (.) at the end of the name.

5. Scroll till the bottom of the screen to find and click the ‘Save’ option.

6. Alternatively, if you are having the IP address of the new e-mail server, then you will need to create a name for that particular IP address since MX records are only able to point at names and not at IP addresses.

7. In the box opposite ‘mail’ change the type ‘C NAME’ to ‘A’. In the box to the right in the same line, enter new mail server’s IP address and then change MX record to pit at mail.domainname.com.
