At present, the latest release of Apache is httpd, version 2.4.46. However, this version is launched with a minor update of security updates addressing CVE-2020-11984, CVE-2020-11993, and minimal modifications to mod_http2.
Difference between Tomcat and Apache
The Apache is an HTTP web server, while the Tomcat is mainly a Java application server. The programming language used for Tomcat is written in Java, while Apache is written in C language. Tomcat is used to serve dynamic content such as Java Servlets and JSP files, on the contrary, Apache is used to serve static content. In terms of serving static content, Apache is faster than Tomcat. Additionally, Apache is more configurable and reliable than Tomcat. Tomcat is perfect for serving dynamic content on your site because Apache will only serve static content like HTML pages.
