With so many types of web server services and plans available, you cannot be faulted for taking time in making the right choice. If you are not exactly aware of what these hosting plans can do to your website management tasks, here is a simple comparison of the three top and commonly used hosting services.

Shared hosting is an arrangement in which you will be sharing the server and its resources with other websites hosted on the system. This means your data, memory, disk space and CPU will all be on the same server as will be others. The technology is simple to operate, cheaper than other hosting options but comes with downsides like limited access to resources and potential security loopholes.

VPS Hosting or virtual private server hosting is akin to shared hosting but specific share of resources are allocated to your slice of the server. You will have an independent server environment and it is relatively more secure than shared hosting. VPS hosting is more expensive than shared hosting. Also, you must have some basic IT knowledge to be able to operate the system if you are opting for unmanaged VPS hosting plan.

In dedicated server hosting, you own the server and have exclusive access to all the resources of the server. You remain in full control of operations and can enjoy greater operational efficiency. It is an expensive option though.
