Both Amazon Web Services or AWS and Microsoft Azure are leading names in delivering public cloud hosting solutions. As far as the AWS goes the Elastic Computing or EC2 users can either assemble their virtual machines independently or they can opt for the pre-configured machines or customize MIs. They will choose the specifications for memory, processing power and size from a variety of VMs. They can also choose totally different regions or accessibility zones where they will launch these. In comparison, Microsoft Azure users will choose the Virtual Magnetic Disk or VHD which corresponds to a Machine Instance in order to create a Virtual Machine. Users will have to specify the core and memory quantity and VHD can be pre-configured. While AWS has short term storage which is offered when an instance starts and then destroyed when it is terminated, Azure has temporary storage via D drives and block storage for the VMs. Managed Amazon Cloud Services uses a pay-as-you-go model where you get charged hourly. You can buy what you use and also Reserved Instance for 1-3 years. But Azure will charge by the minute. It also gives short term plans with choice to pay either monthly or pre-paid. They will have to give a fixed flat monthly charge for support while AWS will make you pay according to usage. |
