Data migration can be one of the most challenging tasks for an organization. Migration can be in different forms that include migrating from shared or dedicated server to the cloud, moving to Alibaba cloud from another cloud service provider or the reverse, migrating to a new location to serve new markets etc. Alibaba Cloud Object Storage Service (OSS) offers a wide range of resources and tools to ensure a seamless transition. The user has three options when migrating their databases or other applications - use the Alibaba Cloud migration tool or do on their own using the material and information available or use any of the ASPs (Alibaba Service Partners). The services are not totally free. Unlike some of the other top cloud storage providers, Alibaba does not insist on any long-term contracts and commitments. There is no upfront investment to be done and users pay for the services they consume i.e. the actual cost of network traffic, storage space etc. |
