The reason for using CDNs is to deliver the content of a requested web page fast to the visitor or requester. CDNs can deliver any type of content with ease. CDNs eliminate latency. In simple words, it can be said, CDNs reduces the distance between your content and the visitor. CDNs are a network of servers that are placed at geographical locations also called as Points of Presence(PoPs) across the globe. The PoP has numerous cache servers that are designed to deliver content to visitors from the closest cloud server. When your content is uploaded on a CDN, the data is encrypted and replicated over the other servers in the network. So, when a visitor requests for some content, it is delivered to them from the CDN server that is in closest proximity to them. A website using a CDN will be able to deliver content faster than a website without a CDN does. With a CDN content delivery network, you can manage your high traffic better and deliver content in any form faster. It balances the load between the network of servers and gets your business wider publicity across new markets. But if you are concentrating on a single location with a specific product, a CDN may not have much impact. |
