You can find several providers offering CDN services but they have their own ways of setting up, configuring and rendering services. You can also self-host CDN. The advantage of self-hosting a CDN is that it will give your visitors to pull your static files from another server without cookies. It will reduce the load on your main server and will allow the visitors to download all files at the same time.

Before you start the implementation process, you must make sure that the CDN is recognized by YSlow. Although YSlow comes preinstalled with a list of popular CDNs, if the (CDN) content delivery network you are implementing is not recognized, your site may get an F rating. Use plug-ins such as W3Total Cache to ensure transparent CDN integration for WordPress blogs.

Change CDN hostname to your self-hosted CDN address (use Go4hosting’s subdomain). Go to your site’s CPanel and click on subdomains. Fill in the Create Subdomain form use any name you prefer. Assign the CDN subdomain to your public_html folder to enable it to operate as a Generic Mirror.

Next, go to the cPanels Advanced DNS Zone Editor and edit the CNAME of the subdomains you had created. Next click on Modify Attachment URLs in the W3 Total Cache CDN settings and modify the attachment URL to your subdomain. Click on Start and let the loading complete.
