SAP HANA is a relational database platform that was first released in 2010. It is fast and has an innovative structure that supports several Business Intelligence, ERP and similar applications. It resides in-memory allowing the CPU to access data directly rather than use the hard drives. Sap is often referred as SAP R3 where R expands to Real Time Data Processing. It means whenever any transaction or event happens, the data is captured, and the information is immediately updated to all the concerned parties. 3 is because of its Tier 3 data center architecture. SAP was first initiated in the year 1972 and it was called the 1st tier and named R1. SAP was upgraded sometime in the 1980s and it was called the 2nd tier R2. SAP Tier 3 is the advance version that came into force in 1992. The 3-tier architecture comes in three layers of presentation layer, application layer, and database layer. |
