Amazon Web Services of AWS is basically a loosely knit cluster of cloud services which lets businesses rent resources. So, clients signing up for AWS services can conveniently avail of resources according to a utility pricing model where you only pay for what you use. Below are highlighted some of the key components of AWS: - Route53 refers to a scalable and feature-rich DNS or Domain Name Service. It translates the domain names into IP addresses allowing computers to locate the right servers for a specific domain name. This works similar to the work done by domain name registrars like GoDaddy. - IAM or Identity and Access Management provide better security as well as identity management for AWS accounts. You can deploy multi-factor authentication feature for this purpose. This component will ensure that every user has a distinct account with individual permissions. The value of this component lies in the fact that any compromise at an infrastructural level could prove to be fatal. - SES or Simple Email Service refers to a email hosting service which allows businesses to send emails through standard SMTP or RESTful API call. Because of EC2, whenever any instance is terminated, data in it disappears too. EBS resolves this problem by offering continuous storage like a hard drive. - Finally, CloudWatch monitors the AWS resources and allows administrators to gather metrics and even deploy alarms when there is trouble. This is easy to install and useful for alerts when critical services get interrupted. |
