Before choosing a cloud server hosting provider, one must be clear about how cloud data center services are different from traditional tier 3 data centers. This would help them to come up with a clear cut cloud strategy. For the records, a cloud based DC facility can host a handful few but crucial applications unlike a traditional one which has the capacity to back thousands of apps at a given time. Additionally, a cloud DC incorporates a homogeneous hardware environment unlike the mixed setup at a traditional facility. Such an evenly distributed hardware in a cloud data center is backed by standardized management tools which require minimal application patches and upgrades. On the other hand, mixed hardware set up of a traditional DC needs multiple management tools and frequent software upgrades/patches. This is done to ensure that the data center balances complex workloads. |

Difference between cloud data centers and traditional ones are: 1. Traditional Data Center uses thousands of different applications while Cloud Data Center uses Few applications. 2. Traditional Data Center uses Multiple software architectures while Cloud Data Center uses single. 3. Traditional Data Center uses Mixed hardware environment while Cloud Data Center uses Homogeneous. |
