Data centers are full of servers which need cooling solutions to reduce the risk of the systems getting burned out. With the increase in servers, there has to be a simultaneous increase in the cooling systems which means increase in the irritating noise of fans and humming power supply sounds. It is very annoying and disturbing for the employees working in close vicinity. It affects their health in the long run and hampers their concentration. Some of the data center hosts were seen providing noise cancelling headphones at their workplace. Another option that the data centers have is to switch to liquid cooling. The sound is dropped significantly. Another effective solution is to change the tiles on the ceilings and walls by installing acoustic tiles can also have a drastic effect. There are also sound proof server racks and cabinets available in sizes between 12u to 42 u that cuts down sound to a large extent. |
